The three left the room and left Kali to unmask Grimes. She placed her hand on his cheek.
"Do you know who I am?" Grimes spoke.
"I have my theories." She said. Grimes quieted down and she started to chant a charm. Her eyes slowly shut.
Kali finished and looked down at the man laying on the table. He looked at her through his deep blue eyes as if he was peering into her soul. His dark hair and masculine face made her want to run but made her legs too weak to move. She pulled her hand away from her face, however he grabbed it and held on to it.
"You?"
"Me." He said with a little smirk. "Ah it's been a long time hasn't it?" His English accent stuck out like a tree in the middle of a desert.
"You're not going to-"
"Hurt you?" He laughed, but then winced because of the cut in his side. "You know I'm on the good side. I'm in no condition to hurt anyone at the moment." He let go of her hand and she started to clean his wound.
"If you still don't believe me, go ahead an finish me off." The man said. Kali shook her head. She dabbed the wound a bit.
"Why are you here?" She asked.
"To warn the Radke twins." He said. "They're in over their heads."
"You would know huh?" Kali asked with a smile. The man laughed. Kali started to bandage the wound.
"Kali?"
"Yes?"
"Did I upset her?"
"You broke her heart."
He went quiet and Kali finished covering his wound.
"They can't know who I am. You must promise me you won't tell."

She thought about the consequences. "I'm afraid I have to." Kali concluded. "Then I should go." He said struggling to pull himself up. Kali stopped him. "You can't just walk out on them. You should at least tell them the warning." The man trudged to the door. "You tell them yourself. Thank you for your hospitality, Kali." "You can return the favor by giving them your warning. After all you are their kin." Kali said raising her voice. The man raised a finger to his lips. He opened the door. "Wait!" Kali stopped him once more. "What is the warning?" The man slightly raised his head and looked down on Kali. "They need to be careful with who they trust." He finally said. Kali nodded and straightened her skirt. "It was rather strange seeing you, James." She spoke softly. "And you." James whispered. He turned and left carefully closing the door behind him.

"He just ran?" Edison asked raising his eyebrows.
Kali nodded.
"Why didn't you tell us sooner?" Ed asked.
"He knocked me out." Kali said running a hand over her temple. "I'm lucky he didn't leave a mark."
"Sounds awful." Drew said touching Kali's arm in sympathy.
"Sounds like a load of-"
"Edison! Can't you see she's upset?" Drew interrupted.
After a long pause Edison said "Do we go after him?"
Vince looked out a window but turn his head slightly. "I doubt Liela has a lot of time." He said. "We need to get to that witch."
Kali hushed Vince. "She prefers to be called sorceress."
"So what the walls have ears?" Ed asked.
Kali nodded.
"Bull-" Drew elbowed Ed.
"We need to go. Thank you for your hospitality, Kali." Vince said with a smile.
Kali gave a little bow and wished them on their way. Edison was the last out.
"Edison." Kali said.
Ed raised his head and looked down on her. "Yes?" He asked. "I should really be going."
"Be careful who you trust." Kali warned. She slowly shut the door behind them.
"Alright..."

Vince felt rain lightly hit his skin. He opened his eyes and stared at his hands. Another hand, the hand of a woman, gripped his. He felt the rain stop and the woman kneeled beside him and whispered to him. She explained to him about traveling and leaving behind pieces of yourself to show here you have been.
The woman guided his hand to carve a letter into a tree. The letter seemed familiar as if it had been burned into Vince's memories. He looked at the woman.
She smiled with a little sadness in her eyes and whispered, "R is for Radke." A howl split through the air and circled around the two.
Vince woke with a shiver in front of a fire Edison had built for the night. They had walked a good bit that day and needed a good rest.
His mind wandered as he contemplated his dream. That wasn't the first time he had seen the letter or that woman. She had long dark curls like his and sweet brown eyes that a doe would have. He remember the feel of her hand covering his and then it hit him.
"Mom." He muttered.
The next morning Vince woke up Drew and Ed and once again they were up and traveling.
"So this castle, where is it exactly?" Ed asked.
Vince looked down at an old map Kali had given him. "It's... Errr." He hesitated. "It's in the middle of a meadow surrounded by a dense forest." Vince set the map down and looked up.
Cars passed by them and people on cell phones strode down the sidewalks. Stoplights gave signals and shops invited people in. Edison laughed.
"Oo I see." He smirked.
"Shut up." Vince said. "It's still a good way from here."

Drew walked around to Edison's side. "So where do we go from here?" She asked with her hands on her hips.
"There should be a lake behind this town then from that we need to walk fourteen miles." Vince explained.
"Then we're there?" Ed asked with hope in his eyes.
Vince shook his head. "Not exactly. We still have to pass the giant rock-"
"Giant rock?" Ed asked raising his eyebrows.
"It's an old map, alright?" Vince said. "Don't blame me."
Drew butted in. "Well talking about it isn't going to help us get there faster. Lets move." She stated.
It wasn't before long, although Ed begged to differ, the group made it to the edge of town and were coming up to the lake.
"Quick break?" Ed pleaded, sweat beading at his brow.
Vince nodded and set his back pack down.
"I'm going to go wash up a bit." Drew said walking towards the lake.
"Why? You look fine." Ed said although Drew kept walking towards the water. Vince raised an eyebrow at him, but Ed shrugged it off.
Drew made it to the lake's banks and dipped her hand in it. It was lukewarm and enviting. She dropped water onto her arms and washed off a bit of dirt that had been on her since that morning.

"This giant rock shouldn't be too far off right?" Ed asked making giant air quotes with his fingers. Vince rolled his eyes and scoped the area.
Drew continued to scrub some dirt off her arms when she spotted something shimmering in the bottom of the lake. She leaned down to look at the object. It lit up in a flash and caused her to loose her sight momentarily.
"It should be over here according to the map." Vince said holding the map up to an empty area of grass.
Drew blinked in order to regain her sight, but before she could something latched onto her leg and pulled her into the water. She let out a scream before she was completely pulled into the ripples.
The brothers jolted around and searched for their friend. "Drew!?" Ed called out. He searched the water, unbuttoning his shirt to jump in. He called again for Drew and then dove in.
Vince waited impatiently on the shoreline. A minute passed. Two minutes. Maybe three. Finally Edison's head projected out of the water. He took a deep breath in and pulled Drew up with him. Her head hang limp.
Vince helped Ed drag Drew's body onto the land, so that Ed could preform mouth-to-mouth. Before he could breathe air into her lungs she turned and spit out lake water that had kept her from breathing.
She struggled to speak. "Did you just-" She cut herself off. "Now's not the time!" She scolded.
Edison's brow furrowed. "Not the time to save your life you mean?" Drew picked herself up and started walking again. Ed sighed and followed, grabbing his shirt from the ground.
"Come on Vince." She grabbed his arm and pulled him with her. "You said there was a rock or something?"
She released Vince's arm. "Ow... And yeah there should be a rock right here." He said.
"It didn't just disappear." Ed said.
Vince shook his head, studying the map. Drew studied the hill the rock would have been sitting on. She sat in the spot.
"What do you already need a break again?" Edison teased. She hushed him and leaned a little. Gradually she started to roll to one side and then back up on her feet.
"I think its down there." Drew said pointing in the direction she rolled.
Ed laughed. "Doubt it." He muttered.
Vince followed in Drew's path.
