Nicole had an underground workshop all to herself where she could teach people about fixing machines and making something out of almost nothing.
Well, almost. She got a lot of help from her little brother Leo. He had this big dragon he called Festus that the students really enjoyed. She preferred to keep Festus away though just in case he malfunctioned and accidentally torched someone. It may or may not of happened before...
Nicole wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and managed to smear grease on her forehead. "That's attractive." She muttered to herself as she tried to wipe it off with her rag which also happened to be dirty.
Another long day had passed and she only had around 3 students stop by to check out her class and what she had to offer. They just seemed to be more interested in sword fighting and martial arts and history. Was mechanics even that important? She was supposed to be in Texas running a successful store. But no, she just had to be there for Leo. They spent enough of their lives apart.
"It's not so bad here. Right Festus?" She glanced over at the metal dragon who blew steam from his nose in response. "Let's get you outside for a bit." She put Festus in his carry-on mode and reeled him outside and over to a big empty parking lot. Luckily the mist would keep him covered. She pressed the button on the box and the dragon reformed and spread his long, golden wings.
After spending years in Romania, Charlie wandered around in busy New York City. It was different, a kind of different he wasn't sure if he liked or disliked. Being here made him feel disconnected and outdated. In this world, wizards and dragons were completely fictional. Here muggle wasn't even a word. With this being said, it was almost like a fresh start for Charlie. He has a chance to teach students about his research on dragons in Romania. A chance to share his enthusiasm towards the giant mystic creatures that bewildered him.
Charlie turned a corner into an cleared parking lot. He looked up from the cracked pavement to see a woman with some metal contraption. He watched her press a button on the metal. It grew to be a large something like a dragon he studied in Romania. Charlie walked slowly behind her keeping his eyes on the dragon. He stopped maybe six feet away from the woman.
His eyes narrowed. "What the hell?" Charlie muttered his jaw dropping.
Nicole jumped and then turned around. "You can see him?!" She tried to block Festus but, he was a giant metal dragon and she was a 5'2 human so it did absolutely nothing. "You aren't supposed to be able to see him..." She muttered.
Leo probably would have already thrown some kind of magical dust at Festus and escaped before the mortal could even say something. Unfortunately she wasn't that quick. Instead she just prayed to the gods that Festus wouldn't torch this guy.
