Areelah was walking with Kale towards the little coffee shop a couple blocks from the Institute - 'Fine Grounds'. They served half priced pastries on Saturday mornings until ten and Areelah and Kale had become regulars. "We're basically an old couple," she laughed.

"Nothing wrong with that." He said with a smile. "Who doesn't love Coffee?" Kale was still trying to adjust to New York and having a girlfriend. He wanted to make Areehlah happy but what if he was too boring for her or too quiet? His life just changed super fast and a hard, yet wonderful way.

"Crazy people," she laughed again and slipped her hand shyly into his. She still wasn't acclimated to the busy sidewalks and didn't want to get separated from him. "Do you like it here?"

He blushed when she took his hand. He squeezed it lightly and looked at the ground as he walked. "It's definitely different than camp Halfblood. But it's big, and promising. It's the city of dreams, right? I just feel like we have a chance of a new life and new experiences and new adventures."

Areelah returned the squeeze and sighed. "I guess. I wish I saw it the way you do. I miss home. Everything is really busy here. And people actually use their horns. What's up with that? It's not like it helps traffic move faster. It's just rude and loud." A small section of her braid slipped out and she tucked it behind her ear neatly. The crosswalk signal ahead switched to the walking figure and she quickened her pace slightly so they wouldn't have to wait for the next one.

He laughed. "I don't know. People are just impatient. Yeah the city is definitely big and chaotic, but it has its perks."

"Like good coffee," she smiled slightly.

"Exactly. Who doesn't love good coffee? Especially when you can find a coffee shop that isn't Starbucks."

"Seriously," she laughed. "Starbucks is just an overload on sugar and carbs."

"And way over priced." He said with a laugh.

She nodded in agreement as they neared the shop. "It can be really loud in there too. I like having other customers in there, but not when its jam packed."

"Yeah. Hopefully this place won't be super packed." He said.

The place wasn't packed--probably because it was too early on a Saturday for most people. Areelah played with the ends of her hair. "You know, for all the harping I do on New York, I don't hate it. Its how I met you," she smiled up at him, a little sheepish for being so negative about it.

He kissed her cheek. "See? It's not so bad." He lead her over to the counter to order their coffee.

She ordered a small latte and a croissant. Her phone chimed and she glanced down at it. "Melanie's back from the U.K."
