I can't fight her off. Not all the time. Sometimes I can get a word in and yell for help, but that's crazy and that's what people expect from a patient in a mental hospital. My father put me in here, not knowing what was truly going on. I'm writing this in hopes my brother Roan will find this.
She's stealing my body, like a host would, she feeds from my abiliy, my emotions, and my energy. Her name is Aiyana and I can't. I can't live like this.
Aiyana pulls me from my writing. "Stop it." I say. She pokes at my brain and whispers into my ear.
'I agree, you can't live like this...' I turn my head to look at her, as she gives me the death stare. I sat on the floor with my knees bent against me. She sat on my bed glancing down at me.
Aiyana cocks her head. 'Why dont you just leave?' She tempts me. 'Let me take the reigns.'
"No!" I yell out.
'Come on. I hate to break it to you, but you're just a waste of space. Your precious brother hasnt visited in weeks.'
"I warned him never to come back!"
'Oh right and like daddy cares.' She came closer to me and I wrap my arms around my face. She pries them apart. 'Look at me.'
"No."
'I just want to help you.' Aiyana says trying to gain my trust. 'I can get you out of here. Get you back to Roan.'
"I dont want out."
'I can bring Cliff back.'
"Cliff? No you're lying."
'Wouldn't you like to see him again? His sandy blonde hair and puppy dog eyes. He was so loyal to you. He was the only one who believed I was real.' Aiyana says letting go of my arms. She looks out of my window for a split second then glances back at me. 'Don't you care at all?'
I looked her in the eye. "I do."
'Then let me take over and I'll bring him back. This is the only way you can get him back.'
"But if I let you, won't I die?"
'No honey.' She makes a tsk noise and lifts my head with her hand. 'You'll be a part of me.'
"Alright."
'Are you inviting me in?'
"Yes." The next thing I know is I'm on the floor of the asylum. I feel Aiyana slowly wake and pick us up off the ground.
'Now bring Cliff back.'
"I'm sorry hun, but I can't do that."
As much as I despise Holly, I do admire her guts. I mean writing her most personal thoughts into a stupid book? It's, well, it's daring. It's something I could do better. Now that she's tucked away, let me tell you about me.
I am a host, sort of. I'm more like Holly and Roan's superior sibling. Crazy? No. Amazing? Yes. I must say I am truly fascinating! Even Zeus himself should bow to me!
'You're disgusting.' Holly says calling me to her attention.
"Let's be nice now." I say. "If we're going to be together for awhile I expect some respect." I laugh.
'No. Not ever.'
I shut her out of my mind. I need to focus on my work at hand. Getting out of the asylum. Once I configure a plan, I start dragging my bed across the floor of my room causing a loud scraping noise and waking up my neighbors. They start to yell at me to be quiet. Who do they think they are?
Finally a nurse comes to my room. She seems sweet but I take another look at her and realize she's one of the morons that held me here. She takes my arm and asks me to sit down.
I look at her. "No!" I squirm and slap her. She yells for help as I knock her to the ground.
Two security guards grab me at my arms and try to carry me out. I kick my legs and scream. 'Stop it!' I hear Holly scream.
"No." I say as the guards pull me out of my room.
They carry me down the hallway and into the solitary confinement where a pshycologist will come to speak to me. Soon enough he shows. He asks me why I was all of the sudden acting out.
"People change." I say with a wink. "Which is why you need to let me go." I glare into his eyes, snaring him in my little trap.
"I need to let you go." He slowly says. He opens the door and walks me down the hallway. The nurses give him looks and question him.
"Tell them youre moving me to an asylum more suited to my needs."
"I'm moving her to an asylum more suited to her needs."
Finally, I take my first steps out of this prison I had been held in for more than half of my life. I control a woman to give me her keys to her car and she does unknowing. I study her brain for memories of learning to drive and feed into my own mind. Now I have transportation. I step into the car and pull out nice and easily as if I had been driving for years.
"Now I need to go visit daddy and brother Roan." I say making sure Holly could hear. I hear her scream at me not to, but then I turn the radio up and drown her out.
I speed through the streets to my first home. Once I pull into my driveway, I walts inside to find no one is home. I look around at my hollow home. Pictures of me as a younger kid on the wall, a big painting of my grandfather above the mantle, and a family photo near the door. I take my fist to the family photo and rip an ugly gash into our precious grandfather's painting. I laugh and look at my bleeding knuckles. I step into the kitchen and let water run on it. I stung, but my expression never changes.
I decide to go into Roan's room. Its been painted and worn. I could see he had grown. We were what now? Fifteen? I let out a sigh and fall onto his bed. I slightly glance across the hallway at my room. Something or someone wants me to go in there. I sit up and contemplate going. If I go, Holly might wake up. I might remember Cliff.
I get up and lean agaisnt Roan's door. I step a little closer and look down at my wooden floors. Holly and I remember the feeling of sliding around in my socks. I swear I could almost feel her breathing in my ear.
'Come.' I hear a voice like Cliff's calling me inside. 'Come play with me.' I picture his smile in my mind. My face tries to match it, but slowly I feel Holly trying to take control.
'So he's your weakness too?' Holly asks. I bolt downstairs and out the door.
As soon as memories of Cliff leave my mind I say, "I have no weaknesses."
I sit on my lawn and wait for my dad or Raon to show. I let my eyes slip shut, then I finally hear a car engine roaring. My eye lids flip open and I look up to see Roan and my dad pull up. By now it was night and the dark had taken over. It was one of my favorite times. I stand not letting Roan or my dad see me, then I see another girl step out of the car and follow my father to the door. I walk a little faster and catch up to them.
"So is she my replacement?"
