Aspen walked down the street of the busy New York. He was somewhat near the Brooklyn Bridge. His classes were over for the day, so he was taking some time to explore and clear his head. He had just shown up here last week after being drafted into the war against the Capitol. Aspen had hoped to find Johanna, but he never did. He joined just in time to find out Linden, his brother that had left home to help lead a group if rebels, was captured and imprisoned months before he joined the war.
Aspen turned a corner down a new street. Before he turned someone caught his eye. Johanna? Couldn't be. Could it? He squinted it was, but she wasn't looking at him. She was on the other side of the street during a green light. He couldn't cross now...
"Hey Mason!" Aspen yelled over the cars passing by. He smiled big and waved his arms around.
Johanna was lost in thought when she heard someone yell her name. She glanced around and her heart nearly stopped. Aspen? Was it really him? She smiled and waved back. She looked at the stop light waiting for it to turn red so she could cross.
Aspen smiled and walked to the cross walk and waited. He tapped his foot dramatically and laughed. Was this for real or was he sleeping? He ran his fingers over his pocket. The ring he got her was still there.
