The airplane took off and Percy could hardly keep himself together. The engine roared and the ground got farther and farther away. He was gripping he seat so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
Percy hated flying. He was not scared of heights or anything, but the lord of the sky was pretty terrifying when he would gladly strike down a son of Poseidon.
Jason looked over at him and smirked. "Dude, calm down. You're not going to die."
"Easy for you to say Mr. Zeus'kid." Percy muttered.
Percy and Jason were on a quest in California at Mt. Tam to make sure no Titans were stirring there. Word got around that some had the guts to rebel again and try to take over. After a few pretty nasty monster battles (nothing new) Percy and Jason saw that everything was clear. Their journey home began pretty easy, but they got an urgent message to come home as soon as possible, and unfortunately, that would be to fly.
Soon they landed in New York and took a cab to camp half blood. Jason went to find piper as soon as they arrived at camp. Naturally, Percy had to go find Annabeth. She wasn't in any of her usual places, so he went to check the Athena cabin. He poked his head in.
He laughed. "Bubble brain. I'm getting pretty used to these nicknames. Thanks." Percy turned to leave before poking his head in again. "Oh, and just to let you know, reading, studying, or whatever you are doing is pretty lame. You should come outside for some real fun. You Athena kids are all the same. You work hard, but you have to learn to play hard."
He smirked. "Yeah yeah whatever you say bookworm." He turned and headed off to the climbing wall to find Annabeth. He hadn't heard from her in a while. They just didn't really talk as much as they used to.
Percy made it to the rock climbing wall and quickly climbed to the top trying to avoid the lava. Annabeth was sitting Indian style reading a book.
"You came all the way up here to read?" He asked with a smirk.
She didn't even look up at him. "Oh hey Percy. When did you get back?"
"20 minutes ago." He said sitting next to her.
"Oh that's cool." She said as she kept reading.
He rolled his eyes and took her book away. "Nerd. Don't you want to hear about my quest?"
"Percy give it back!" She said snatching the book away. "I need some peace and quiet okay? Just go bother someone else." She went right back to reading.
"Fine. If that's how you're going to be I'll just leave. Who cares that I even made it back alive, right?" He got up and climbed back down the mountain. He went to find Jason who was at the basketball courts with piper and some other people.
Avery laughed as she and the other girls had turned the game into keep away. Though they'd been in the lead for awhile it was fun watching the boys get irritated. "Come on Jason. It's not that hard. Just steal the ball."
