Evil isn't evil unless there is good. If you can't see the good, you can't see the evil and vice versa. If evil didn't exist, no one would know good. Good would not be as good as it seems, and evil would not be as evil either.
There has to be a balance between the two, except for in my case. My good side died with my bother. In fact, he was my good side.
When Lochlan and I were born, we were inseparable. We had our tendencies to get in trouble, but we helped each other to get out of it. He was me and I was him. Pees in a pod if you will.
Our father sent us to Camp Jupiter by request of our mother. She knew what was best for us, and our father didn't care for us as much as his work. Sending us to camp would give him more time to make investments and business deals without having to deal with his offspring.
Camp Jupiter summed up in one word was home. Lochlan and I wouldn't want to have ended up anywhere else. We were invited in and trained under the counselors and kept in contact with our mother. We couldn't have asked for better.
Then our father came to take us home. Foolish young me thought that he wanted to spend time with his kids. In reality, he only wanted to use us to make money. Turns out he had lost all of his earnings because of some bad investments and was in deep debt, or in deep need of his demigod children's abilities. I fell for a sappy speech he gave; however, Lochlan was beside himself. But if I went with my father, Loch would too and I did.
Worst mistake ever, and my one regret (well that and not killing my father sooner).
After coming home and spending a day with our father, he told us his dilemma. I offered to help by getting a job, but my father refused saying it would be too hard watching me work alone. Lochlan swallowed like he normally did when he was nervous or unsure of something. Father said there was one thing we could do to help him, but that he wouldn't force us to do it unless we were totally on board. I offered myself, taking his hand and shooting Lochlan a pleading look. He caved and said he would help if I did.
"So what is it, father?" I asked still holing his hand.
"Help me rob a bank." He answered.
There was a long pause of silence until Lochlan broke into laughter.
"There is no way." He said shaking his head. He looked at me. I dropped my father's hand in confusion.
"I'll only use the money for good." Father said. "You know me." He said looking into my big doe eyes.
"How?" I asked egging him on.
"I'll invest it and once I gain profit I'll give it to charity and only keep a portion of it to live off of." He said. He was quite manipulative. Its probably why our mother fell for him. He probably fed her a bunch of lies too.
"We could be like Robin Hood and Friar Tuck." He let out a hearty chuckle. He spout out statistics and more reasons as to why this would be a good idea. All Loch could think of were reasons why not to do it, but naïve me was only thinking of one reason: to make my father happy. I thought doing this would make him want to get to know me more, he only wanted to know about my DNA.
"I'll do it." I finally said. Fathers smile grew. Lochlan gave me a look, but my eyes pleaded with him to help.
"I'm in." Loch said shaking his head.
That next day our father sat us down to discuss our plans to rob the bank. His plans were shoddy and unkempt, so I took it upon myself to make a better scheme.
